Hands-on treatment, Hobart

Hands-on treatment, with a purpose.

Massage, mobilisations, manual therapy and dry needling, chosen from your assessment.

Your physio uses hands-on treatment where your assessment shows it will help, always alongside movement and strength work. It's one part of your session, never the whole of it.

The reframe

Hands-on treatment can ease pain and help you move. On its own it doesn't build what your body needs to cope, which is why we always pair it with movement and strength work.

What we use

Four hands-on tools.

Your physio chooses from these based on your assessment. Not everyone needs all of them, and some people need none.

Muscle

Soft tissue massage

Hands-on work on tight, sensitive muscle to ease pain and help you move.

Joints

Joint mobilisations

Gentle, graded movement of a stiff joint to help restore range.

Technique

Manual therapy

Hands-on techniques to settle pain and help you move more freely, chosen from your assessment.

Needling

Dry needling

A fine, solid filament needle placed into tight, sensitive muscle. Included in your appointment at no extra cost.

How it fits a session

Hands-on, then the work.

Hands-on treatment is one part of your session, never the whole of it.

  1. Assess

We find what's driving it before we decide whether hands-on will help.

  2. Treat

Hands-on where it helps, to ease pain and get you moving.

  3. Load

Movement and strength work, so you build capacity, not just relief.

Common questions

Common questions about hands-on treatment.

Do you offer hands-on treatment?

Yes. We use hands-on techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisations, dry needling and manual therapy alongside movement-based rehab and strength training.

Is dry needling included in my appointment?

Dry needling is included in your treatment where it's clinically appropriate, at no extra cost. Whether it's used in your first session depends on your assessment and what your physio recommends.

What can I expect during my first physiotherapy session?

In your first session, we'll take the time to understand your story, assess your injury or concerns, and discuss your goals. We combine hands-on care with movement strategies and education so you know exactly what's driving your pain and what we'll do about it. Each plan is tailored to your needs and lifestyle.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly without a GP referral, unless your insurer or GP has specified otherwise. If you have a GP care plan (CDM or EPC), we accept it: you pay the full fee, we lodge the Medicare claim for you, and Medicare pays the rebate to you.
